Slice Of Life

Slice Of Life, is a Weblog (BLOG) that I write, in which I try to tell some sort of story about something, or someone in my life. Sometimes it's happy, sometimes not, sometimes informative, sometimes...... HA, gotcha, did ya think that I was going to say not? Don't know me very well, do ya? :=) I will try to update the BLOG from time to time, whenever I can.

My personality is outgoing, I use to be a wallflower, until I realized that it was all the outgoing people that were having the most fun. It was a tough conversion, but nobody I know today would even remotely consider me to be a wallflower. Basically, when I was young, my parents taught me that if you work hard, you can accomplish anything. I haven't quite found the "anything" part to be always true, but it has inspired me to always try to do, and be, my best.

Water Water Everywhere, But Not A Drop To Drink

I've been having a little bit of a plumbing problem with the house recently. For those that are not local, most homes here in Az have either a dribbler water system, that sprays water just on the individual plants, or if they have grass, then they have a standard"pop up" sprinkler system for that. I have both, dribblers in the front, pop ups in the back yard. A few weeks ago, I thought I was going to have to go out back, and build myself an ARK, because the PVC Plastic pipes around the shut off valves cracked, and flooded half the back yard, and a good portion of the street. Since the Holidays were coming up, and I didn't have time to fix it, I shut off the irrigation valve, and I've just been using the hose to water the front and back yards., and I was going to go about fixing it after my Thanksgiving vacation back east. No problem, right? HA!

So, I'm standing in BJ's Warehouse Store (Think Costco, or Sam's Club) on Long Island NY, and my cell phone rings, with a call from my cleaning lady in Az, asking me "How come there's no water in the house"? WHAT?? says I, what do you mean? She says: "No water from the faucets, tubs, toilets, nothing". So I call up my friend, who's been coming over to feed the dogs, and he says: "We'll when I came by, there was water gurgling up From Around The Water Meter, in the Front Yard"...... Great, now it seems I also managed to flood the from yard as well as the back. The main problem, is that when the installer put in the PVC pipe, they used the thin wall/cheap Stuff, and OK, it's been 9 years, but it appears these pipes are beginning to fail. So, since there's nothing I can do from NY, I have to grin and bear it.

So, for the past several days since I've been back, I've been digging up the dirt from yard around the meter. It was SO NICE of the installer to put this pipe ~ 2 feet down, because I SO LOVE digging in semi-mud.... in the dark. Oh, did I forget to mention that it gets dark around 5pm now, so I have 1 whole hour to "play in the mud" each day before the sun goes down. Good thing my friend brough over several of his large camping water jugs, so that at least I can wash my hand, and flush the toilets.

All I can say is, thank goodness for the Fitness Center on my companies campus, and thank goodness I already had access to the center, and their showers, otherwise, there would be one stinky Tom running around here this week :-)
